An exciting 2009 planned for SPUGJax
We have lined up some exciting enhancements to the UG and presenters for 2009 and wanted to share them with you.  We have committments to present  at various times from:

  • Steve Kaczmarek "Steve K." from Microsoft.  He heads the documentation team for SCCM other SC applications.  He will appear in person so bring your Administrator's Guide's and your Sharpies!  And of course, bring your feedback on product documentation that he can take back to Redmond.
  • Acresso Software (formerly Installshield) will talk about software packaging and version control with their products including Admin Studio.
  • Intel would like to give a 1-day seminar with Microsoft on vPro and the integration with SCCM 2007 R2.  For those that are not aware of vPro it is management functionality built into the CPU of computers.  It has been shipping for a while.  Features include remote control, remote BIOS flash (to a collection in CM!) and other management tools.  We'll plan this outside of the usual meeting and with lots of notice.
  • Microsoft Product Teams have offered to talk about features in SCCM 2007 R2, including Asset Intelligence 2.5, vPro integration, etc.  I am sure we can talk them into sharing information about the other System Center products as well.
 And even more...

We'll move the meetings to lunchtime, for 1.5 hours.  We hear from a lot of interested people that evenings are difficult due to family and other committments.

4th Quarter 2008 Meeting Notes
Our 4th Quarter 2008 meeting was held at New Horizons.  Kevin Colby from SecureVantage talked about his clients' experiences with security and the solutions that SecureVantage provides.

We welcomed some new faces and talked about managing computers in a forestry company with Configuration Manager and swapped war stories.  We also discussed some pitfalls of a SCCM installation and the migration from SMS 2003 to SCCM 2007.  Make sure your Push Installation method is deselected!

We're very grateful to New Horizons for the space, as always, and to SecureVantage for the abundant food from Jason'd Deli.
